"Therefore , brethren, stand fast , and hold the traditions which ye have been taught , whether by word, or our epistle." -- II Thessalonians 2:15, KJV
Welcome to the website of the West Concord church of Christ, a non-denominational group of Christians who strive to stand fast and hold the traditions found in God's inspired Word--the Bible.
We would love to have you come and worship with us on Sundays and Wednesdays and experience New Testament Christianity in its original state. We use no instruments to add to the singing, we have no entertainment activities.
Our sole purpose in meeting is to offer simple, sincere praise to the One who made us.

Please come and visit our services, and learn how important understanding the Bible is to us. You will enjoy the atmosphere and friendly spirit, where the only expectations we have on you as a visitor is to feel welcome.
Many people are hesitant to attend worship services at an unfamiliar church. To help alleviate any apprehensions you may have regarding our congregation, we would like to explain what you can expect when you visit with us at West Concord church of Christ
Courtesy And Kindness
First of all, you will find no exclusive pews for any person. All are greeted with equal courtesy and kindness (Acts 10:34-35; Galatians 3:28). You will find no tendency toward entertainment with an organ or piano music. Like the first century Christians, we will engage in the singing of psalms, hymns and spiritual songs (Ephesians 5:19). The words used in our songs will be easy to understand (1 Corinthians 14:15). God has commanded the sincere praise of His people to come from the heart (Colossians 3:16).
Order And Reverence
You will not be confused by many people speaking or praying at the same time. Good order will prevail at every service (1 Corinthians 14:33). You will observe one of the brethren leading the congregation reverently and quietly in prayer (1 Timothy 2:1-5).
If you are present on Sunday, the Lord's Day, you will observe the congregation eating bread and drinking the fruit of the vine in memory of the death of Christ (Matthew 26:26-29). We do this on the first day of every week, like the Christians in the first century (Acts 20:7).
You will not find special collections taken at every service. A collection is taken only on the Lord's Day (1 Corinthians 16:1-2). This congregation is supported by the free will offerings of its members. We do not ask non-members to financially support our work, nor do we engage in fund raising activities like rummage sales and bingo games. We specialize in being a church, and do not compete with places of amusement.
The Bible Is Our Only Guide
You will observe that the Bible is the textbook to which reference is repeatedly made in our classes and sermons. Special emphasis is placed on that part of the Bible known as the New Testament (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Romans 1:16). You will never be asked to accept what some man says about the Bible; we want you to read the Bible for yourself to see "whether those things are so" (Acts 17:11).
The audience will not be embarrassed or singled out for any sort of demonstration or testimony. You can quietly observe and study that which you see and hear (1 Corinthians 14:40).

What We Do
We are determined to follow the New Testament pattern for the organization, work and worship of the church. We want to be able to show "book, chapter, and verse" for all of our practices.
Our mission is simple. Since the Lord's church is the "pillar and ground of the truth" (1 Timothy 3:15), our purpose is to promote the teachings of Christ and to give our greatest effort to live by those teachings (John 1:14; 14:6; 2 John 9). Many religious groups have shifted their focus from spiritual teaching to social and recreational activities. This shift in emphasis has resulted in a neglect of man's most important need, i.e., preparing the soul to meet its Maker (Mark 8:36-37). Christians are commanded, "whatever you do in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus" (Colossians 3:17); this means that our teaching and practice must be authorized by the New Testament. We, at Coahoma, strive to meet this divine requirement both in our lives and in our work together as a congregation.
If you were to visit our services you would observe that we follow the same arrangement as New Testament churches did under the direction of the Lord's apostles. We sing "psalms, hymns and spiritual songs" together . We teach the Word of God (Acts 2:42). On the first day of the week (Sunday) we also commemorate the death of Christ (Matthew 26:26-29; Acts 20:7). We contribute from our earnings and possessions for the advancement of the cause of Christ in the areas of evangelism, edification through teaching and benevolence (1 Corinthians 9:14; Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 8:1-5). In summary, we strive to maintain an orderly service together (1 Corinthians 14:40).
Our Interest in You
Our interest in you is related to your eternal salvation. We want to do all we can in helping you to serve God faithfully. We are not interested in your money or material possessions. In fact, we do not solicit money from any visitors when the collection is taken on Sunday.

What Steps Does God Require For Salvation? |

1 - WE MUST BELIEVE IN GOD!
"Without faith it is impossible to be well-pleasing unto him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that seek him" Hebrews 11:6 .
- First, we must believe that God is -- that he exists. The universe is one of the best sources of evidence in proof of such. "For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity" Romans 1:20.
- Two broad solutions are offered for the origin of our universe: naturalism/materialism [usually identified as evolution] and creationism. In the previous verse, creationism is specified as the correct answer [see also: {bible 9}Genesis 1:1; Exodus 20:11; Psalms 19:1-3; Psalms 33:6-9; Isaiah 45:18;Jeremiah 27:5].
- By a study of the universe and a logical search for its origin, you and I can know that God exists, that he is powerful and that he is divine. Without this intellectual acceptance, it is impossible to please him.
- Second, we must believe that God is a rewarder of those who seek after him. -- Where is he? Who is he? What is he like? What does he want? Without some kind of revelation, we have no answer. 1 Corinthians 2:10.
- That's where the Bible comes in. For "all scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" 2 Tim. 3:16. By turning to "the implanted word, which is able to save...souls" James 1:21, we learn about God and the life he requires of us.
- Now, let's assume that you and I both accept the existence of a divine being based on the existence, the size and the intricate design of our universe. Let' s also assume that we accept the Bible as his divinely inspired revelation.
- That being true, let's turn to his revelation to see why we have to seek him and what we must do to have a relationship with him. Let's turn to the Bible to see what we must do if we really want to go to heaven and live with him.
